Editing The Magazine

The photoshoot is complete, which means that we can get started on actually putting the magazine together. This is a lot harder than I first thought it would be, especially considering we are making 2 edditions, and therefore, must have a constant theme throughout. Nasima and I are a pair, as are Amrita and Lipi, doing the Autumn/Winter and the Summer edditions respectively.
We have decided to change the name of our magazine to "Melody" as it's shorter, sweeter, and more music related than our last name (The Nxt Big Thing). For us, the seemingly most easy task was actually the hardest - choosing the background. We cut out the front cover picture, and pasted it onto an A4 sized document in Photoshop. Considering the girl (me) in the picture is wearing a white jacket, we had to choose a contrasting colour to make the picture pop, yet that still followed the rules of a contempory pop magazine. We've opted for a dark blueish purple, as it is still relatively girly, and provides a nice contrast. We were going to have a multicoloured backround, but it seemed too 'busy' - and most Pop magazines have plain backgrounds, with lots of pictures and quite a fair bit of writing.
Choosing the background took most of the lesson, if i'm honest. We started to choose the font for the Masthead, but haven't settled on a definite idea yet, as we still need to sort this out with Lipi and Amrita. Hopefully we can get more done next lesson.
